Kodagu: Labourer killed in a wild elephant attack

Kodagu: In a tragic incident an estate labourer was killed after a wild elephant attacked him.

The deceased is Yaravara Chama (48), a resident of Dhanugala village.

The incident took place on Saturday, June 11 morning, when Chama and his friend werec returning to Dhanugala village on a scooter after taking part in a temple festival.

While Chama was eloping, he was attacked by the lone tusker and was killed on the spot. The incident has been recorded at the Gonikoppal police station.

Following the incident, the villagers gathered in large numbers and protested against the forest department for failing to control the increasing wild elephant menace.
