Bengaluru: The lover is the suspect behind the murder of a woman, who was found dead at a lodge in Yeswanthpur, police said.
The lifeless body of the victim, Deepa Padam (32) of Odisha origin, was found on June 10 by the lodge staff. The accused, identified as Anmal Ratan Kandar, is on the run from the law, police said.
Anmal Ratan Kandar had married Deepali a few years ago and lived near HAL in Bengaluru. He worked at a Bata Showroom, police said.
According to police, Anmal was in an extramarital affair with Deepa who was Deepali’s friend. He had also recommended her name for a post at his place of work. It is said that Deepa had begun a relationship with another youth and this had angered Anmal.
On June 9, Anmal took Deepa to a lodge near Yeswanthpur Railway station. Police suspect that they might have quarreled over the issue of Deepa’s affair during which Anmal is believed to have strangulated her to death.
After the killing, Anmal locked the room and fled from the scene. The next day, the hotel staff who were suspicious, opened the room and found the dead body.
Police identified the accused based on the CCTV footage from the lodge.
