Dharmasthala: Biker killed after hitting fallen tree

Dharmasthala: A tree, that fell on a road here, caused an accident that killed a bike rider on the spot on Wednesday, June 15.

The deceased was identified as Vasanth Kumar Jain (42) a resident of Mugulichatra in Odilnala. He ran a hotel near the Netravati bathing ghat.

According to sources, Jain was on his way to work from Dharmasthala when the accident occurred. Not noticing the tree, he rammed his bike onto the tree and was thrown onto the road. Due to the impact, he sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot, sources added.

Police said the rider was not wearing a helmet and this proved costly.
