Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Rajendra K V on Friday said that the ‘Maralu Mitra’ app is ready with necessary updates and will ensure transparency in the sand supply.
Presiding over a meeting held at the DC’s office in Mangaluru, Rajendra KV directed B M Lingaraj, deputy director of the mining and geology department to start a helpline to handle grievances of sand customers.
“The sand collected from the work of silt removal of Adyapady dam on Phalguni river basin and backwater area of Shamboor dam on Netravati river basin must be supplied to the consumers. To ensure a smooth supply of sand as per demand in a transparent manner across the district, Maralu Mitra app has been developed. One can book the sand online in advance and the app will provide all the necessary information to the customers,” he added.
He further said, ” One must ensure that no inconvenience is caused to people living near the sand mining areas. CCTV cameras must be placed near the area. GPS should be installed in the vehicles transporting sand. The district administration must be given a report of the details of consumers who have booked the materials and those who have already received them.”
