Bantwal: Bike-borne chain snatcher arrested

Bantwal: A 26-year-old youth has been arrested in connection with a chain-snatching incident that took place at Kavalapadoor village in Bantwal here.

The arrested identified as Ilyas, 26, a resident of Belthangadi has been remanded to 15-days of judicial custody.

On June 15 afternoon, the victim Poovamma (69) was walking near Thimmakka road when a bike-borne person snatched her gold-plated silver chain. A case in this regard was registered at Bantwal rural police station under IPC section 392.

Police investigating the case arrested Ilyas a day after the incident and recovered the stolen chain from his possession. Police also seized the bike used in the crime.
