Hunsur: Two young women lost their lives in a collision between a milk tanker and a car on the Mysuru-Hunsur Highway-275 on  Saturday evening.

The impact was severe that the car’s front end was completely mangled and the identity of the victims could be ascertained by the ID cards found in the car wreckage. The deceased were identified as Jeevitha (24), daughter of Chandrashekhar Murthy of Mysuru, and her friend Pratheeksha (24), daughter of Prasanna of KP Agrahara.

According to eyewitnesses, a tyre blast led to the accident. The friends were on their way to Hunsur on the ill-fated car when one of the rear tyres burst. The uncontrollable car smashed into an oncoming milk truck, killing the car’s occupants on the spot.

Bilikere police were alerted, who visited the spot and arranged for the mortal remains to be shifted to K R Hospital mortuary in Mysuru.

There was a huge traffic snarl on the highway due to the accident, which was later cleared by the police.
