Uppinangady: Accident victim who was shifted to hospital after DC’s intervention dies

A woman who sustained serious injuries in a road accident at Perne village near Uppinangady died at the hospital where she was shifted for treatment after Dakshina Kannada DC Dr. Rajendra K V’s intervention.
On Saturday, the victim Poornima Bhat (47) and her husband Balakrishna Bhat were returning home when a lorry, that was under contract with the NHAI-related work rammed into their two-wheeler. Poornima was thrown off the bike and sustained serious head injuries while her husband escaped with minor injuries.
The situation turned tense as the lorry driver fled from the spot.
Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannada DC Dr Rajendra K V who was on his way to Alankaru village for the “Grama Vasthavya” noticed the crowd and alighted from his vehicle. Upon seeing the accident victim he immediately made arrangements to shift her to the hospital for treatment. However, she was declared brought dead by the doctors at the hospital.
