Malpe: Thieves break into house, steal gold worth Rs 2.5 lakhs

‎Malpe:‎‎ Thieves broke into a house and decamped with valuables worth Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 10,000 cash from a cupboard when no one was around on the night of June 17.

The theft took place at the house of Satish Pai near Narayana Guru Mandir. As the leaky roof of the house was being repaired, the occupants slept at a relative’s house every night.

The thieves took advantage of this and broke into the house when nobody was at the house. The theft came to light on the morning of June 18 when the owners returned home.

Gold jewelry weighing 69.5 grams worth Rs 2.5 lakhs and Rs 10,000 cash were reportedly missing.

A case has been registered at the Malpe Police Station.
