Athletes stun social media with their ‘Yogic’ avatars

Sporting heroes are known to inspire their fans to embrace fitness by showcasing their gymming regimes, endurance training and a host of outdoor activities. In recent times, yoga has gained immense popularity among athletes. This International Yoga Day, social media is flooded with photos of Indian athletes sharing pictures of them doing yoga.
Wrestling champ and Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist Babita Phogat has Kooed pictures of her doing pranayam and asanas in the sun-lit lawns by her place. “Yoga is one of India’s finest contributions to global well-being. Let’s all commit to practice yoga on a regular basis and in a disciplined manner.”
Renowned shooter and Arjuna Awardee Manu Bhaker is also seen practicing yoga in the lawns in a picture shared on the Koo app. “Let’s all do yoga. Everyday”.
“Happy soul, a fresh mind, and a healthy body. All three can be achieved with yoga. Wishing you a very Happy Yoga Day. I encourage everyone to practise Yoga in order to have a healthy life” – Kooed cricketer Rishi Dhawan, sharing a picture of him from the gym.
Former captain of the Indian hockey team and Arjuna Awardee Sandeep Singh has shared pictures of him from a yoga camp in Panipat in Haryana, Kooing that yoga guarantees both physical and emotional wellbeing.
Since 2014, when it was incorporated by the United Nations General Assembly, June 21 is heralded as International Yoga Day.
