‎Bengaluru:‎‎ The inquiry committee headed by Additional Director General Police (ADGP) S Murugan has submitted a 500-page report on its findings on alleged irregularities at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison here.

The committee had been formed after some videos about the luxurious treatment, and supply of drugs and alcohol to some of the inmates at the prison went viral on social media about 6 months ago.

The inquiry team had visited the prison and recorded the statements of prison inmates as well as the prison officials.

The committee had found some evidence about the differential treatment. These have been collated in the report and some recommendations have been made.

As the allegations were found to be prima facie true, the report has recommended departmental action against 10 staff including 2 police officers. It has also recommended steps for reforms of the prison system.

Meanwhile, the Department of Prisons has transferred seven officials mentioned in the report. Prison officials — Ashok N, S N Ramesh, Shivanand K Ganiger, Umesh R Doddamani, Lokesh P, Bheemanna Devappa Nedalagi, and Mahesh Patil — have been transferred to other prisons in the state.
