Two car occupants had a miraculous escape while one sustained minor injuries after a centuries-old Peepal (Ashwatta) tree fell on their car at Lakshman Katte in Bantwal’s Sajipanadu village on Saturday.

The tree was nearly 600-year-old and was in a frail condition.

The injured has been identified as Lukman. The incident took place when Lukman along with two female members of his family had come shopping.

The two women had reportedly alighted from the vehicle when the tree suddenly collapsed on the car. Lukman who was inside escaped with minor injuries.
