Sagar: The condition of at least 14 children, who were being treated for fever at the sub-divisional hospital here on Sunday, turned worse after allegedly receiving an injection.

Dr Prakash Bhosle, a doctor at the hospital told reporters that the children had received an antibiotic injection, after which the parents complained that the children exhibited symptoms of chills and difficulty breathing. The affected are being monitored.

The root cause is being investigated, he said, and added that there was no danger to the lives of the children affected.

Sagar MLA Hartalu Halappa visited the hospital and received information from the doctors attending. He also instructed them to take good care of the children.

MLA Halappa told the media that ambulances have been arranged for the children who were requested to be taken to Shivamogga. “I spoke to Dr. Shreedhar of McGann Hospital, and told him to appoint specialist doctors for advising treatment protocol,” he added.
