Siddaramaiah’s ‘Amruth Mahotsav’ to be ‘Political Power Show’?

Bengaluru: The preparations for the 75th birthday celebration of the Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly, Siddaramaiah are in full swing to be held in Davangere on August 3.
However, reports suggest that some of the Congress leaders are of the opinion that, this would not remain as just a birthday celebration. The birthday celebrations are a front for Siddaramaiah being projected as the Congress’ CM candidate for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections, likely to be scheduled in the first half of 2023, they claim.
As per the sources, the inner circles of the Karnataka Congress are expecting this event to be the “Political Power Show” of Siddaramaiah, rather than birthday celebrations, as an Ahinda event that was scheduled to be staged in Mysuru was called off due to certain reasons.
Meanwhile, the party is said to have formed a celebration committee, headed by former ministers R V Deshpande and K N Rajanna as honorary president and president respectively. The party’s top brass leaders including Rahul Gandhi, K C Venugopal, Mallikarjun Kharge, and other leaders have been invited.
It can be observed that there are several instances, where Congress leader Zameer Ahmed Khan was very vocal for Siddaramaiah to be the next CM. On the other hand, Kunigal MLA Dr HD Ranganathan had demanded KPCC president D K Shivakumar to be the CM candidate. Assessing the party infight, the top brass of the Congress party had warned the leaders and the party workers from refraining from announcing any names.
