Mangaluru: The proposed Padil-Pumpwell four-lane road, under the Smart City Project, has picked up the pace and is expected to complete by the end of this year.
As per the reports, the 2.8 km road project costing Rs 26 cr will involve widening of the existing 10-metre tar road to 24 metre concrete four-lane road. The road will be consisting of four lanes of 3.50 metre each and a 3-metre-wide interlocked pavement on either side of the road.
The project will involve pavements, streetlamps, dividers, drainage systems etc.
Currently, the shifting of electric poles, carriageways, and drainage works are in process. The concrete roads from Padil junction to the newly proposed Deputy Commissioner’s office have been completed.
Meanwhile, Mangaluru Smart City Limited has decided to complete the drainage work first and then go for concretization, as earlier it was the other way round, due to which, there was frequent digging of roads.
By the completion of this project, it is expected that people will no longer be facing traffic congestion, travelling by this road.
