New attendance system for teachers under consideration: Min B C Nagesh

‎Karnataka Minister for Primary and Secondary Education and Sakala, ‎‎B.C‎‎. Nagesh said that a new system is being planned to ensure compulsory attendance of teachers in schools and to monitor their attendance.‎

‎Addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi, he said that a biometric attendance system was proposed earlier. However, it was not implemented due to technical issues such as inadequate internet connectivity, and power issues among others.

A proposal to implement an attendance system for teachers on the pattern implemented in the power supply corporations., is being considered, he added.

He said that most teachers are regularly attending school duties. But, there are complaints in some places. The new attendance system will be brought to ensure overall discipline.

Touring upon the issue the teachers’ recruitment, Nagesh clarified that out of the 15,000 teachers being recruited, around 5,000 teachers are earmarked for the Kalyana Karnataka region for increasing the teacher-student ratio.
