Bantwal: As the district is experiencing heavy rains for the past few days, the water level of the ‘lifeline’ of Dakshina Kannada, is inching closer to the danger mark.

While the danger mark of River Nethravathi stands at 8.5 m, currently the flow of water has reached 8 m. Due to this, the district administration officials are expecting a flood-like situation in areas close to the river. The officials have alerted the people living in the river vicinity to be watchful.

Bantwal Tahsildar Smita Ramu has assured that all the arrangements to tackle the flood-like situation were in place and has requested the people living in the low-lying areas not to panic. She has also requested people to reach out to police or revenue officials if any issues.

Meanwhile, due to the rapid rise in water levels of the River Nethravathi, a few areas of Panemangalore town have already begun facing water logging.
