Mangaluru: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended the red alert in the coastal part of Karnataka for further two days.
A red alert was sounded on July 7 as heavy rains continued to lash the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada. As per the weather forecast, torrential rainfall is expected in the next 48 hours i.e July 8 and 9.
On July 10 and 11 an orange alert has been sounded for these districts. Fishermen and tourists have been warned not to venture into the sea as sea conditions continue to remain rough.
Meanwhile, the district administration has kept NDRF and SDRF teams on standby to tackle any monsoon-related disaster.
