Toll Gate Virodhi Samiti to stage fresh protest for scrapping Surathkal toll gate

The Surathkal Toll Gate Virodhi Samiti has decided to stage a protest at the NITK toll gate at Surathkal as its tender will come up for renewal soon.

Despite repeated assurances of closure and/or merger of the existing tollgate with the one at Hejamady, the tender for toll collection at this toll gate has been floated and renewed in the past.

The Samiti members alleged that the local MLAs and MP are responsible for the continuance of toll collection at the Suratkal toll gate.

A meeting in this regard was held on Wednesday and it was decided to stage a protest at the toll gate at July end.

Samiti convenor Muneer Katipalla and other members Y Raghavendra Rao, Pratibha Kulai, Rameez Padubidri were among those present at the meeting.
