Sakleshpur: State Public Welfare Development (PWD) Minister C C Patil has said that the vehicular movement on the Shiradi Ghat will not be interrupted, but the repair and other road works would continue.

Addressing the media on Monday, after inspecting the Shiradi Ghat (Mangaluru-Bengaluru NH 75) road repair work and other bridge works, the minister said, “On an average around 30,000 vehicles pass by this road and hence closing the roads is not an option as it will cause great inconvenience to the commuters. We will allow traffic movement on one side of the road till the repair works finish. One-way traffic provision will be made, only if necessary.

Patil also said that there was no shortage of funds and that the repair works will be completed based on priority.

Officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the PWD department were present.
