Shivamogga: Former minister K S Eshwarappa visited McGann Hospital on Wednesday, to meet and enquire about the condition of the injured Bajrang Dal activist and local BJP leader Kantharaju.
After meeting Kantharaju, and addressing the media Eshwarappa said, “After Bajrang Dal activist Harsha’s murder, I had met the elders of the Muslim community of Rajiv Gandhi Layout. We had come to a common agreement that no such incidents will be repeated in the future. The promise is broken today, as ‘Muslim Goondas’ of the same area have attacked another Bajrang Dal activist Kantharaju”.
“Luckily Kantharaju had just escaped being beheaded by the assailants. He would not have survived if he had not stood up for self-defense. As Harsha’s case was handed over to National Investigation Agency (NIA), Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has assured of stringent action against the assailants in this case. I’ll bring this to the notice of State Home Minister Araga Jnanendra as well. ‘Muslim Goondas’ are targeting BJP workers and Hindu activists time and again”, he added.
Meanwhile, Eshwarappa has said that the state government was looking forward to the Centre’s intervention in this case, like that of Harsha’s case.
