My Special Sister: Story of Fathima and Asiyath Mazina

Have you ever wondered how it feels to sleep next to someone who has never sinned, who you know for sure is going to Heaven, no matter what. I am blessed with the opportunity, that’s to take care of a 24-year-old baby.
Her name is Fathima, she is just a year and a half younger than me but she is my baby. She will always be!
She does not understand anything, does not speak, not even know her own mother, but the way my mother loves her fills my heart.
She was 6 months normal born baby, when she got a high fever and that affected her brain, causing meningitis and fits, since then she’s been taken care of, from feeding to bathing to putting her to sleep.
She looks just like a normal girl but with special needs, there are people who love and adore her but there are also people who stare at her, and get scared to sit next to her. That’s when my heart breaks.
People like them need education, they should know that these are the kids who get us brownie points from God for taking care of them.
My sister is my soul. While she’s in India and I’m in Dubai right now, there’s not a single day that I don’t think about her.
I see her face on video calls and that makes my day. Though she doesn’t recognize me, I believe there will be a time when she will look at me and smile knowing everything.”
