Belagavi: Heavy rains continued to wreak havoc in the district. The rains showed no signs of abating and the heavy downpour continued on Thursday too.
The walls of a house collapsed due to the incessant rains, killing a 15-year-old boy in Linganamatha in Khanapur Taluk here on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Ananthu Pashetty.
The inflow of water in the Krishna, Dudhganaga, Vedaganga, and Ghataprabha reivers has increased considerably after the higher reaches of these rivers in Maharashtra witnessed heavy rainfall. The water level in the reservoirs has risen considerably. Due to the heavy inflow of the Krishna river, the water level at the Hidakal reservoir rose by 5 feet in just a day.
Meanwhile, the district administration has declared a two-day holiday, on Friday and Saturday, for anganwadis, primary and high schools in the district as a precaution.
