Yeshwanthpur Police arrests 2 accused in jewellery shop robbery

Bengaluru: The Yeshwanthpur Police have arrested two accused of robbing a “The Best Jewellery” shop in the city.

Yeshwanthpur resident and 22-year-old Chethan Naidu and his friend Vijay who is 29-year-old are the accused.

It can be noted that Chethan was working as a sales representative in the same jewellery shop that he robbed.

As per the police sources, a customer had placed an order for a gold chain. The same was later displayed on the display board. When the customer had come to receive the ordered gold chain, the chain was missing. On checking the CCTV footage, Chethan was found stealing the chain. Immediately, the shop owners checked the shop, during which, they realized that he had stolen quite a few ornaments.

Later, the owner filed a complaint at the Yeshwanthpur Police Station.

As per the interim investigation reports, it is understood that for the past year, accused Chethan and Vijay were stealing jewellery at regular intervals. Later, they auctioned or sold it and shared the money they had received. With this money, they purchased a second-hand car worth Rs. 6 lakhs and a bike.

Meanwhile, the police have recovered ornaments worth Rs 26.25 lakhs and seized the vehicles that they had purchased.
