Bengaluru: Leader of Opposition of Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has requested his fans and followers not to celebrate his birthday, this year
As per the reports, Kharge has requested not to celebrate his birthday because the reason that president of the Indian National Congress (INC) Sonia Gandhi would be quizzed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on July 21. Coincidentally, his birthday too falls on the same day. He has opined that it was not the time to celebrate, but to stand by their party’s supremo.
In a letter uploaded on social media, he has appealed, “On July 21, I’ll turn 80 and it’s 50 years of my political career. I’ll not be in my hometown Kalaburgi or Bengaluru. On that day, there are parliament sessions. Moreover, Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi will be facing the ED interrogation. It is more important to provide moral support to our supremo than celebrate my birthday”.
Meanwhile, this message has created a buzz in the inner circles of the Karnataka Congress. Speculation is that it might be a taunt to the former chief minister and veteran Karnataka Congress leader Siddaramaiah and his fans and followers who have organized the birthday celebration ‘Siddaramotsav’ on August 3.
