Bengaluru: Five Indian mountaineers have scaled two mountain peaks in Ladakh namely Mt Kang Yatse II (6250 M) and Mt Dzo Dzongo (6240 M) within 70 hours.

While four were from Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Haryana, trekker Naveen Mallesh hails from ‘Namma Bengaluru’.

They had begun their summit on July 17. Despite bad weather conditions, they completed two summits and returned on July 22.

The team had taken a different approach than that of others who trek from Ladakh.

Instead of trial running with just a water bottle, the team had completed the summit with ropes and through ice walls.

According to a news report in The New Indian Express, Naveen said that they had taken a day’s break after their first summit of Mt Kang Yatse II.

“We did not attempt to create a record but we were just testing our limits and skills. Each summit took us almost 20 hours to complete. This expedition was not a competition”, he was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Naveen has expressed his hopes that more youngsters take up mountaineering as a sport and hobby.
