Praveen Nettaru murder: Sec 144 extended till Aug 6 in 5 taluks of Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra KV, on July 29, extended the prohibitory orders in Bantwal, Belthangady, Puttur, Kadaba, and Sullia taluks.
Prohibitory order under CrPC Section 144 has been extended from July 29 midnight till August 6 midnight, the order said.
The order said the assembly of 5 or more persons in public places is prohibited. Carrying weapons, public processions, burning effigies, or holding protests is also banned.
The prohibitory orders were clamped down in these taluks following the murder of BJYM member Praveen Nettaru.
Peace meet on July 30
Addressing the press, the DC said that a peace meet has been called at the DC’s office at 11 am on July 30.
Leaders of religious organizations, political parties, and other community organizations have been called for the meeting, he said, and added that the administration will take input on maintaining law and order issues as well as create awareness about actions of the administration so far.
