DK serial murders: 5 FIRs over ‘communal’ social media posts

Mangaluru: In wake of serial murders in Dakshina Kannada district, 5 FIRs have been lodged in the CEN police station over allegations of disruption to communal harmony through posts and comments on various social media platforms.

The city police commissioner Shashikumar said that strict action will be taken against those spreading messages of hate, inciting various groups with an intention to create unrest.

Recently, a piece of fake information titled “Intelligence agency predicts communal violence in the coastal district” doing rounds on social media.

Also, several misleading posts related to Praveen Nettaru and Fazil’s murder were shared on social media platforms through posts or comments.
