Alleging harassment from husband’s family, woman kills daughter, hangs herself to death

Mandya: A woman in Nagamangala Town here killed her infant child before taking her own life on Monday allegedly due to harassment from her husband’s family.

The deceased have been identified as Bindu (25) and her 9-month-old daughter Jnanavi.

Bindu has married Naveen of Nagamangala Town, despite opposition from her family. On Monday, She returned to her maternal home, allegedly due to the harassment by Naveen’s family. She allegedly killed her daughter before hanging her from the ceiling fan.

A death note, purportedly written by Bindu, has been found. In it, Bindu has named her husband, sisters-in-law, and her husband’s lover of harassing her and held them responsible for taking the extreme step, sources said.

Based on a complaint by Bindu’s father, the town police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
