Heavy rains: Holiday declared for schools and colleges in Sullia, Kadaba Taluks on Aug 3

Sullia/Mangaluru: A holiday has been declared for schools and colleges in Sullia and Kadaba Taluks of Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, August 3.

As incessant rains continue to batter the taluks, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K V ordered the schools to remain closed on Wednesday.

Anganwadis, primary and High schools, PUC, Diploma/ITI and colleges will remain closed as a precaution, DC said.

The torrential rainfall over the past day has thrown life out of gear. IMD has forecasted a ‘Red Alert’ with heavy rainfall and thunderstorm for Dakshina Kannada on August 3.

On Tuesday, IMD issued a buletin predicting showers in the state till August 4.  A yellow warning has been issued for 19 districts in the state, predicting heavy rainfall (64.5 mm to 115.5 mm) in isolated areas.
