Subramanya police have registered a case against a man accused of sexually assaulting a married woman and then cheating her of Rs 1.70 lac with the false promise of marriage.

As per the complaint, the incident took place on May 20 when an intoxicated Pavan barged into the victim’s house and sexually assaulted her. Later he promised the victim that he would marry her to dissuade her from filing a police complaint against him.

Later he took Rs 1.70 lac from the woman on the basis of an agreement through an advocate. The victim alleged that after all this Pavan has now refused for the marriage.

An investigation is underway.
