Mandya: Police have arrested a man for allegedly attempting to kill his wife and son by setting them ablaze.
The incident took place at Netkal village in Mandya’s Malavalli taluk.
The accused identified as Siddegowda often picked up quarrels with his wife and would abuse her as well as their son. On Wednesday night he began an argument over a petty issue. As the argument escalated, Siddegowda in a fit of rage poured kerosene on his wife, Mahadevamma and son, Siddaraj, and set them on fire.
Upon hearing the cries, neighbors came to their rescue and rushed them to the KR hospital in Mysuru. Both of them have sustained critical burn injuries and are undergoing treatment.
Belakavadi police registered a case of attempt to murder against Siddegowda and an investigation is underway.
