Kundapura: Udupi’s Ventana Foundation provided grants-in-aid to four Karate athletes from Bhandarkars’ College who will be participating in the Thailand Open Karate-Do Championships 2022.

A cheque of Rs 50,000 each was handed to students of the college — Chethan Ganiga, Pawan Poojary Bharath Devadiga, and Ajay Devadiga — who have been selected for participating in the international competitions scheduled to be held from August 19 till August 23.

On behalf of the Ventana Foundation, Shanmukha Narayana Handed the cheques to the budding Karate athletes. Speaking on the occasion, he said that it was a matter of great pride that athletes from rural areas have been shining at the international level. He hoped this would encourage more rural talents to take up sports.

The foundation will help more talents in the future, he added.

Principal of Bhandarkars’ College Dr. N P Narayana Shetty, college administrative council members Devadas Kamath, and Prakash Soans, and past student K P Bhat among others were present on the occasion.
