Bengaluru: The Karnataka government on Thursday announced that no organisations are allowed to hoist the National flag at Idgah maidan in Chamarajpet.

This decision was taken in a meeting led by Revenue Minister R. Ashoka.

“The Sub-Divisional Officer will hoist the flag on behalf of the government. The public can participate in the program. However, no organisation or MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan will be allowed to hoist the flag at Idgah Maidan,” Minister Ashoka said.

Recently, a section of people claimed that the Idgah maidan belongs to the Wakf Board while some others said it is a land belonging to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Amid the controversy, Revenue Minister R Ashoka had said that the land belongs to the Revenue Department and it will decide on its usage.
