Hunsur: Joining hands in “Har Ghar Tiranga”, an initiative by the Centre under the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” (75 years of Indian Independence) programme, the women Self-Help Groups (SHG) under the National Rural Livelihood Mission – Sanjeevini scheme (formulated by the Union Government, renamed as Sanjeevini by the state government) have produced 18,450 tricolours to be distributed to Gram Panchayats.

Although the production target is 1,85,250 flags, the SHG has managed to reach the final stage of production.

Around 157 women tailors were trained for a week under the scheme, as per the directions of the government and guidelines of the Zilla Panchayat.

The materials are provided by the Zilla Panchayat.

The small-sized flags are priced at Rs. 32 and the large size at Rs. 44. For each flag, women are paid Rs. 8.

Around 450 flags are allocated to each Gram Panchayat.

Hunsur Taluk Panchayat EO B K Manu has said that the Zilla Panchayat has directed all the Gram Panchayats to purchase the flag from the SHG.
