Karnataka Police on Friday said that nearly 25 people have been taken into custody in connection with the clashes that claimed two lives in Koppal’s Hulihaidar village.
The clash erupted between two groups reportedly due to a rivalry following an inter-faith relationship between a couple in the village.
As per the locals, the clashes broke out between the groups following an argument after a Hindu boy went to meet a Muslim girl. The deceased have been identified as Yankappa Talawar (60) and Pashavalisab Maligaddi (22)
“More than 25 people were taken into custody in Hulihyder village related to the violence which occurred at the time of Muharram. Investigation going on,” Arunagshu Giri, Superintendent of Police, Koppal told ANI.
“We will book the cases. We have come to know that two groups allegedly indulged in this incident, of which two people have died. We will file the First Information Report,” he added.
