Kundapur: A theft case has come to light at a petrol pump in Trasi, where a miscreant reportedly stole Rs 52,000 from the cash register in the guise of asking for change for a Rs. 2000 currency note.

Manoj, staff at the petrol pump, has filed a complaint with the Gangoli Police.

According to the complaint, the theft occurred on the evening of June 19. A person who disguised himself as a foreign national, had come in a Honda Amaze car and filled petrol of Rs. 500. The person who talked in English, asked the staff for Rs. 2000 note.

When the staff said they did not have the requisite change, he asked them to check again. While the attendants attention was diverted, the person stole the cash found in the register and escaped from the place without raising suspicion, the complaint said.

However, the registration of the case with the police had been delayed due to the internal investigation from the Hindustan Petroleum (HP) company side.
