Shivamogga: In the wake of the clashes in the city on Monday and the imposition of a curfew for three days in the city, ADGP Alok Kumar has issued an order restricting two-wheelers during night hours.
Further, the DGP said that it is prohibited for two-wheeler riders to carry people under 40 years of age on the pillion. These restrictions will not apply to pillion riders who are adults above 40 years and women. Also, traveling on two-wheelers is prohibited in night hours from 9:00 pm to 05:00 am, except in case of emergency, the order said.
Police officers have been called from different districts for tightening security measures. Patrols have been increased in Tunganagar, Doddapet, Vinobanagar police station limits, with night patrolling introduced in other stations, Alok Kumar said.
Gooda act to be invoked against rioters
Strict actions will be taken against those who disturb the peace by taking the law into their hands, the ADGP warned.
Goonda Act will be invoked against those involved in the case related to the riots in Shimoga on Independence Day and their property will be confiscated, he added.
Security tightened
As many festivals are approaching, precautionary measures are being implemented. A rapid action force has already reached the district. “We already have 15 platoons and have requested for more,” he added.
Further ADGP added that 4 accused related to the Prem Singh stabbing incident have been identified. “We have already arrested 2. Search on for another 2, we’ll take stringent action,” he said.
