Madikeri: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah who is on a one-day visit to Kodagu district on Thursday, August 18, faced a black flag protest by the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers for his alleged comments against Veer Savarkar.
As his convoy came near the Thithimathi town (border area of the Kodagu district), the protesters stopped his car and gave him Savarkar’s photo. They also waved a black flag against him and raised slogans “Go Back Siddaramaiah”.
Speaking to the media, BJYM district president Darshan Joyappa lambasted Siddaramaiah and said, “Siddaramaiah, an anti-Hindu person celebrated Tipu Jayanti. Tipu was a radical person and had massacred thousands of innocents. Earlier, Siddaramaiah had also termed Kodavas as ‘Beef Eaters’. By allowing him to enter the district, it will only disrupt peace”.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that police took the situation under control and made way for his convoy.
