‘Puneeth’ satellite to be launched between Nov/Dec: Min Dr. Ashwath Narayan

Bengaluru: State Higher Education Minister Dr. Ashwath Narayan said that the “Puneeth” satellite (named after late Sandalwood actor “Powerstar” Puneeth Rajkumar) which is being developed by the government school students will be launched into orbit between November 15 and December 31, 2022.
Addressing the media, after a review meeting of the project on Thursday, August 25, he said, “Under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ initiative, school and college students are being involved in a variety of competitions organized in the zonal and state levels. From this, around 1000 students will be shortlisted, who will be then taken to ISRO located at Sriharikota of Andhra Pradesh”.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announced of launching 75 satellites in the hands of students, while the country is celebrating its 75th year of independence. In relation to this, the KGS3Sat satellite is being developed by the government school students of Bengaluru at the cost of Rs 1.90 crores. The satellite will be named ‘Puneeth’ in memory of late Sandalwood actor Puneeth Rajkumar. It will be the first satellite to be launched under the prime minister’s initiative”, he added.
