Bengaluru: The government is mulling over a proposal for setting up an agency to protect buyers of residential plots and other land from fraud, said Karnataka Revenue Minister R. Ashoka on Friday.

Talking to reporters here, the minister said that the agency will work as an intermediary between land sellers and buyers.

As an intermediary, the agency will peruse the records of the land being sold and verify their authenticity and ownership. Once the documents get a green signal from the agency the transaction can take place, he said.

The basic purpose of instituting the agency will be to prevent fraud, he added.
