Ullal: Several people were injured in a serial accident involving 5 vehicles late on Sunday night at Thokkottu Kallapu on National Highway 66.
An Innova car that was moving towards Mangaluru from Thokkottu suddenly turned left to overtake another vehicle, forcing an i20 car just behind it to apply brakes suddenly.
As a result, the i20 car spun around and hit a scooter and an i10 car, moving in the same direction. The car then hit a Swift car parked on the side of the road.
No fatalities were reported in the incident, but several were injured. Tarun from Karasaragod, who was riding the scooter, and Amrit, a student of Aloysius College, who was driving the i20 were among the injured. The family that was traveling in the i10 car, including women and children were also hurt.
The Innova car that started the chain of events, however, escaped from the spot. Both the Innova and i20, reportedly, were over speeding which led to the accident.
Mangaluru South traffic police visited the accident site and are investigating the matter.
