Bhopal: A city-based NGO fighting for men’s rights is organizing a ceremony to celebrate the divorce of 18 men after a lengthy legal battle. The invitation sent out by the NGO, Bhai Welfare Society, has since gone viral on social media.

The NGO that fights injustice against men in marital affairs, is celebrating victory in lawsuits based on allegations of dowry, domestic abuse, and other court cases fought over maintenance.

According to a TOI report, the NGO said that the event will “motivate” people that their life has not ended after divorce and that they can “continue the rest of their life in a better way”.

In preparation for the one-of-a-kind event, the NGO has even created a “divorce invitation”, which appears to have a number of supposedly therapeutic anti-ceremonies envisioned for the aggrieved men. The invitation lists events such as Jaimala Visarjan (marriage garland immersion), Gents Sangeet, seven steps symbolizing vows for social service, and a sacred fire ritual for conscience cleansing.

“It has been noticed that several people faced several challenges after being divorced. Such a ceremony will boost their confidence to start afresh,” the TOI report quoted organizing committee member, Zaki Ahmed, as saying.

Further, Ahmed said, “Our organization fights the cases of such people. In the last two and a half years, 18 men have got freed from a marriage that had made their life difficult. We strengthen them mentally through the helpline. There is a court battle. Then in most cases, they have to pay a large amount for settlement. So, these people have gone through a lot of stress. There is a need for such an event so that they can move forward with new enthusiasm in their new life.”
