M’luru: Youth sentenced to 8 months imprisonment for damaging bank ATM door

A 20-year-old resident of Matadakani in the city accused of damaging the glass door of a Canara Bank ATM was sentenced to eight months of simple imprisonment.

The accused Maneesh had damaged the door of the ATM by pelting stones on July 9, 2020 night hours. A charge sheet had been filed by Haron Akthar, who was sub Inspector of Barke police at that time.

The court in its verdict also imposed a penalty of Rs 2,000 fine on Maneesh under Section 2 (A) of Karnataka Prevention of Damage To Person and Property (KPDPP) Act and Rs 3,500 under Section 427 of Indian Penal Code. The accused will have to serve additional 10 days imprisonment if he fails to pay the penalty amount.
