An elderly woman, mother of 11 children has filed a petition before the President seeking mercy killing on grounds of extreme physical and psychological suffering.
The woman, Puttavva (78), a resident of Ranebennur town in Haveri filed her petition for euthanasia to President Droupadi Murmu through the District Commissioner.
The petition written by Puttavva states that none of her 11 children — seven sons and four daughters — are ready to take care of her and it is becoming very difficult for her to lead a life with ailments.
The woman owns 25 acres of land but allegedly her children are not willing to give her due share in the property. Puttuva has been living at the mercy of her neighbours who offer her food.
