Railways rename Tippu Express as Wodeyar Express

Mysuru: The South Western Railway (SWR), Hubballi on Friday issued a notification regarding the renaming of Mysuru- Bengaluru Tippu Express train and Talaguppa- Mysuru Express train.
The news was shared on Twitter by Mysuru- Kodagu MP Prathap Simha who had written a letter to the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the month of July seeking the naming of the trains after the Wodeyars and Kuvempu.

As per the notification, dated October 7, it is stated that the following trains be named or renamed as follows as per the desire of Union railway ministry.
Accordingly, Train No 12613/ 12614 Mysuru- Bengaluru Tippu Express has been renamed as Wodeyar Express and 16221/ 16222 Talaguppa- Mysuru Express as Kuvempu Express.
