Bengaluru: Panchamsali Mutt Sri Basava Mruthyunjaya Swamiji has warned the Karnataka government of a massive protest in front of Vidhana Soudha if the Lingayat-Panchamasali community is not added under the 2A reservation category.

Addressing the media on Thursday, October 13 he warned the state government and said, “On October 21, a massive event of Lingayat-Panchamasali community is organized at Hukkeri. By then, if the government fails to recognize the community under the 2A category, we will gather 25 lakh people from the community in front of the Vidhana Soudha and protest against the government”.

“The government has given reservations for 31 sub-sects of the Lingayat community under the 2A category. But it seems like the government is not interested in fulfilling our demands, inspite of protesting for it for the past two years”, he added.

Meanwhile, speaking about the Hukkeri event, the seer said that around one lakh people are expected to join the event.
