Manipal: A car moving towards Manipal from Maravanthe crashed into an electric pole near Perampally Sundari Gate and was completely wrecked late on Monday night.
Locals said that the driver lost control of the car and hit an electric pole, flipped 2-3 times, and hit another pole.
The occupants of the car, miraculously, escaped unharmed. There were 2-3 other people in the car when the accident occurred. According to preliminary reports, all were safe.
Accident prone area
The spot where the accident took place is curvy and dangerous. A couple of accidents a week are common here, locals said. They alleged that no action has been taken even after submitting several petitions for rectifying the road issue.
Power cut
However, the surrounding areas were left without electric power throughout the night.
Due to the accident, the power supply from the Puttur feeder here was stopped. As a result, the areas of Ambagilu, Hanumantanagar, Rajeeva Nagar, and Perampally, plunged into darkness.
MESCOM sources said that the power supply could be resumed only after the damaged pole and electric lines were replaced.
