Kasaragod: An under-construction highway overbridge collapsed at Periya here, injuring a construction worker.
The incident took place at around 3 am on Saturday morning.
At the time of the mishap, 5 construction workers were at the site. Fortunately, only one among them reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Though the exact cause for the collapse is not known, it is suspected that a defect in the work may have led to the accident. Meanwhile, senior officials are investigating the cause.
Hyderabad-based Megha Construction is executing the work on the Chengala to Nelshwaram section of the NH66. The work is going on round the clock, with workers engaged in 3 shifts.
