Belagavi: A roadside canteen may be the unlikeliest of places to meet a celebrity, much less, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
However, to the surprise of many, the master blaster was spotted in Belagavi, sipping tea at a roadside canteen in Machhe village on Monday. The video clip of the master blaster clicking a selfie with the canteen owner has gone viral.
It was a normal weekday morning on Monday at Fauji, a roadside canteen run by Vaiju N in Machhe village here. At around 8 am, two cars — an Innova, and a Mercedes — halted at the canteen. The occupants did not get down from the car but ordered tea with the help of their aides. Vaiju said he was unaware that the guest was actually Sachin Tendulkar.
As the tea was really delicious, the guest got off the car and offered his compliments to the canteen owner. Vaiju was pleasantly surprised that the guest turned out to be none other than the “God of Cricket” Sachin Tendulkar.
Sachin, along with his family, was on a road trip to Goa.
Tendulkar also obliged Vaiju’s request for a selfie. To add to Vaiju’s elation, Tendulkar also autographed a Rs 200 note. Vaiju said he promptly returned the Rs 25 change for the tea bill.
After a brief halt, the entourage left for their destination in Goa.
