Chamarajanagar: An incident of a chariot falling to the ground, reportedly due to the breaking of its tyre occurred here on Tuesday, November 1.
The chariot belonged to the Veerabhadreshwara Swamy Temple located at Chennappanapura village.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The incident took place during the Car Festival (Rathotsava) of the temple.
At around 12:30 PM the chariot came behind the temple, during which, one of the tyres of the chariot broke. Observing this, the police dispersed the crowd at first, and later the grip of the rope was gradually loosened, eventually bringing down the chariot completely.
It is learned that the Car Festival and ‘Belli Kavachadharane’ feast (silver kavacham) of Veerbhadreshwara Swamy was held after four years.
Although the Car Festival could not be completed, other rituals were performed.
Earlier, in the day, Chamarajanagar Constituency legislator C Puttarangashetty and others had offered puja in the temple.
